October 2025
The Endless Summer regatta/extravaganza is upon us!
We have one more bite at the Summer apple this year, and it’s a big one! The weather forecast looks good, everything’s cued up thanks to the many volunteers and sponsors, there will be races, food and drink and general camaraderie and merriment all around. Festivities officially kick off this Friday night with a “wings on the beach” grilled chicken-wing feast, and Saturday’s itinerary is chock-full of racing, food and general fun, with a couple of races planned for Sunday morning followed by race results and trophy presentations in the early afternoon.
Looking forward to seeing you all there!

2025 Atlanta Fall Classic by Bob Graves
Even though I couldn’t sail in this event. I had a great time and cheered on the SPSC group that came. Once again, SPSC stepped up and provided all the food for Friday evening gathering of racers and early registration. Some great soup, chili, and Pilau.
SPSC folks racing were Joe Sisson in Open Unlimited, Ryne Least, Laura Least, and Chris Graves sailing in Sport (Atlanta does not have an Open limited fleet), and Jack May sailing in LT. Other SPSC folks were my lovely wife Sandy, Terry Graves, and Becky and Randy Armstrong.
On Saturday, three races were run before a lunch break of Publix hoagies and then two races after lunch. The winds were light and gusty. You could see some boards catch some wind and motor along. On one race, Joe started on a port tack and caught a nice breeze because he was able to cross in front of the entire fleet and maintained a very impressive lead throughout the race, only being beaten by a second by Valentina who was the overall winner for the weekend.
We missed some road warriors due to the Miami/FSU game being played on the same weekend but am impressed with the ones who came out. The weather was incredible, with some drizzle coming in Sunday around 4, but that did not dampen our after party at the campground as Randy, Becky, Sandy, Joe, Ryne, Laura, Cody, Rick, and myself huddle under Becky’s clam shelter, drank wonderful cocktails, and told stories that had all of us laughing and they’re stories that are not to be repeated.
This was the first year the Atlanta Fall Classic occurred before the Endless Summer which was confusing to some of us. We were a little disappointed the leaves had not started changing yet because usually they are very colorful. We are very happy the campground is now run by the county or else it would have been closed during the shutdown.
Here’s hoping more of you can make it next year and camp in a beautiful setting on the Lake. For those that mountain bike, Joe and I rode at Chicopee State Park where they have real mountains! They also have some great hiking trails that Tina, Sandy, Richard, and Chris trekked in one year.
