Events

The events will be run by a club or shop in accordance with the current 2001-2004 The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS). Three races are required to constitute an event in the Series. A long distance race may be scored as more than one race, i.e., 4 to 8 miles - 2 races and over 8 miles - 3 races. The event will be at least a two days long in order to make it worth while for competitors to travel.

Series Registration

Each Series competitor must be registered for the Series in order to be scored for the Series. Races completed before registering for the Series will not be counted in the Series results.

Scoring

Fleet scoring will be used for the Southeast Series events. The Series races will be scored by dividing the competitors Fleet score for the event by the number of competitors in their Fleet. For example, if you placed 3rd in your fleet and there were 30 people in your Fleet, your series score would be 0.1. For each event a competitor misses, an event score of 1.2 points will be used. This scoring system weights larger events more favorably. The competitor will be allowed to discard their worst 5 events. The competitor with the lowest total score at the end of the Series will win his/her respective Fleet/Class. All events may not have all Series Fleets; check with the event sponsor. If a competitor races in an improper Fleet, it will not be counted for the Series. It is each competitor's responsibility to make sure they are in the proper event Fleet to be scored for the Series. See Series Rules Sheetfor additional rules.

Series Classes

Since the regattas and the Series are Fleet scored, the regatta-registered class is not required to be the same the Series registered class, but must be the same Fleet. The classes for the Series will be as follows:

Longboard 3/1: Men (44 & under), Grandmasters (45+)
Formula 3-1: Men (34 & under), Masters (35-44), Grand Masters (45+)
Prodigy: One Class
Sport: Men (34 & under), Masters (35-44), Grand Masters (45+), Women

Series Trophies & Prizes

Trophies will be awarded three deep in all classes and overall in each Fleet. Prizes are in the works.
