Commodore's Rambling October 2016

29th Annual Endless Summer Sailboard Classic

The 29th annual Endless Summer comes to a very successful end. Good wind great company and good time made for a wonderful weekend. I am honored to be the chair of this yea'rs event. Special thanks to our sponsors and the incredible team of club members that make it all happen.

Hurricane Mathew stayed way to the east and provided North to North West winds on Friday and Saturday with much of Apalachee Bay sucked dry by Mathew and the strong winds. There are some new crab traps that need to be removed from the flats during the next super low tide.

We had a great turnout with lots of boards on the water and a lots of new faces in the novice fleet.

I will have an “Endless Summer” video out soon. If anyone has some great stills or very short video clips please send them to christopherscottgraves@gmail.com

Race results in next months Newsletter.

Atlanta Fall Classic, October 21-23

We have our Endless Summer and Atlanta has the Atlanta fall Classic at the Lake Lanier Sailing Club. This event has been occurring longer than our own Endless Summer. I have been going on and off since the early 90’s. The last few years I have been fortunate to return to Atlanta with Terry and enjoy some incredible scenery and great races. Over the last few years The Shell Point Sailboard Club has brought up some pot luck dishes for Friday night evening dinning. There are places for RVs and tents. Terry and I will be camping along Lake Lanier at there beautiful campsites. Register

Williams Award Party Animal No Need to Go to Burning Man
This year's recipient of the “Perry Williams” award was awarded to Bob Andrews for his years of service to the club. He is always available for work days and most importantly represents the club on the water at the many regattas he attends. Thank you Bob Andrews. Mark. Enough Said.

Past Commodore’s Muddled Memory

Well, that was a surprise while on vacation.  I took a couple week off from my busy life of being retired and went on a road trip.  It just so happened I missed the club meeting because I was in South Dakota.  Talked to Sandy about making the meeting, but she said everything will be fine (and I’m beginning to think she was in on it).  For once the club had a list of 5 candidates for at large board members when only 4 were needed.  I was not voted to return, thus foiling my attempt to become the Vladimir Putin of the club.
