Commodore's Corner - August 2010
WHEW, it's HOT oustide and I'm pretty sick of traveling!!! Hey
but there's no oil on our beach, thank goodness! Speaking of the
beach, the Rum and Rootbeer is happening
this weekend - Saturday with registration from 12:00-2:00 on the
beach!!! From what I've heard and read about this event it is
shaping up to be one not to miss! Looks like Guglielmo Olsoni
and his cohort DJBobbyG have cooked up some hot fun and games!
Here's a sample of the planned events:
Visit and participate in the following casinos to get poker run
cards, gamble your coins, and win contests:
Tropicana for Karoake singing of the classics
or bring your own Karoake CD.
Circus Circus for a floor show. Dress as a character
from the advent of casinos in the 1930’s through the pinnacle
(or low point) of Elvis’ Viva Las Vegas movie. Mobsters,
the Rat Pack (Frank, Dean, Sammie), Elvis, showgirls, casino operatives,
etc. dominated the scene.
The Dunes for the Root Beer Chug
The Flamingo for dice
The Horsehoe for ball throw
The Sands for Roullete
Caesars Palace for paddle board racing

Elections will take place at the September 14th meeting. Yeah,
I know I said in my last ramblings that elections would be in
August but they aren't - it will be September! If you want to
support your club by serving on the Board (or perhaps protect
yourself from being nominated and elected to the Board?), come
and join us on Tuesday, August 14, 7:30 Beef O’Bradys on
Thomasville Road and I'm sure Wright won't mind if you want to
Up Your Dues early!!!

23rd Annual Endless Summer Sailboard Classic
The 23rd Annual Endless Summer Sailboard Classic is scheduled
for October 1-3, 2010. I'm thinking - no, I know I'm gonna need
some help with this one!!!! I would like to thank Mark and Kathy
Voigt for getting a head start on things by soliciting for door
prizes and "chum" already! If you have time and can
volunteer, I (I mean our club) could certainly use your help.
We will need folks for the usual committees: registration, site
preparation, food servers, race, etc.
