Commodore's Corner - January 2010
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
Festivus was all it was cracked up to be and then some! The Smackdown
at Shell Point took place with no real carnage to report except
for the "Commodeor's" pride. Sorry Bob, but I warned
you on the message board time and again that I was going to kick
your butt. The "balance beam" you provided as a means
of distraction did not phase me the least little bit. Told you
my training would render me triumphant! HA! Oh, wait a minute
that means I'm the new Commodore! Wow, another year has come and
gone already? My how time flys when you are having fun! Festivus
miracle you wonder? Yes, there were several! Bottles of gin mysteriously
appeared, firewood was carefully crafted into a warming flame
and food was plentiful! Thanks to all who participated and made
it a great success.
In all seriousness, thanks to our Past Commodore Bob Graves for
a job well done. You have left some big shoes for me to fill and
I will, of course, do my very best. Enjoy your retirement on the
"porch" with all of the other Past Commodores!
Your Board members for 2010 are myself as Commodore; Bill Olson
- Vice Commodore; Wright Finney - Purser; Ann Getman - Scribe;
Bob Graves - Past Commodore; Tina Mazanek - Board Member; Linda
Downey - Board Member; Bob Andrews - Board Member and a great
big Welcome to our newest Board Member Mike Levine. Thank you
all for agreeing to serve your club this year. We have a lot of
folks with a lot of experience who are more than happy to share,
thank goodness!
Events coming up rather quickly are the Keys Trip in February
(can't wait) and the Wind Ceremony in March! More information
will be posted on the website as the event dates approach.
Hope to see you all at the club meeting and at Fiesta Key in
February.
Donna,
SPSC Commodore
