Happy March everybody….the days are getting longer and the water
a little warmer.
Keys and Family Dinner
In February many of us went down to Fiesta Key to enjoy the warmth of
south Florida, eat great food and play in the sun with our friends.
To remember the great times and share the event with those who couldn’t
travel the club is hosting a family dinner in the back room at Beef
O’ Brady’s at 6:30 pm before the club meeting. Perry has
prepared a slide show for the occasion, so bring the family and come
have dinner with your SPSC friends.
Wind Ceremony
It’s time to get your wind wish sticks ready for the Swami to
bless as the annual Wind Ceremony. This year’s event falls on
Saturday, March 24th and be on the beach with the band under the pavilion.
This year the club is hosting a pasta competition. Anything pasta goes
so enter your best lasagna, spaghetti, or seafood pasta dish in the
contest. Contact Jack May to join the competition. The event is the
same as it ever was…$20 and a dinner side gets you good food,
a great t-shirt, fun music and a fabulous time.
Dates for our summer events have been set. The Stephen C. Smith Regatta
is just around the corner and the Nimby event site has been chosen;
reservation should be made soon. The board has been working to get these
dates well in advance so we can plan our summers. Please take time to
check out the calendar
and see what is happening.
Lessons:
Lessons are a vital activity the clubs provides to promote windsurfing
and support recreational activities in Wakulla County. Lee Chapin is
the lessons coordinator this year and will be scheduling the learning
sessions. The lessons equipment will be stored at the beach so this
year’s lessons will be much easier than last. Please let Lee know
if you would be willing to teach this summer.
One final note: One of our club members, Dave Denmark, lost his mother
to a long bought of cancer last month. While she may now be in peace
it will never be the same for Dave and his family. Let’s keep
Dave and Lizzie, and their family in our hearts. May they soon find
peace and love in the memories they share.
