Commodore's Comments

Happy start of the Holidays, I guess it must really start at around the end of September. That’s when they start putting up the snow-blowing beach balls with St. Nick and Frosty. I hope this means we can start taking photos for the Festoons tee-shirts, And announcing who will be the band for the Steven C. Smith Regatta, cause we already missed our opprotunity to bring up the Christmas party and the Keys trip.

I hear they’ve actually started work on the “bath house” or public relief facilities. I’m sure someone will name it appropriately. Butt that is great news. We are slowly getting things back on track after Dennis. I for one am going to miss the sight of the Howdy Doodies. And laugh at the remembrance of playing music in front of them. It gave me an out. It’s not me, it’s the - well you know. What’s even funnier is we all danced behind’em too. I am excited that things are happening down there. This is just the start of many good things to come. Why before you it we’ll be having drinks pool side at the new resort. Maybe they’ll even have a professional bocce arena.

I’m of the understanding that my good friend Bobby over in the panhandle put on one really great event. I’m sorry I missed it. The word is that it went off without a hitch. There were over fifty racers and the venue was absolutely perfect. I went last year and had a blast can’t imagine what this year was like. So far I head the racing was great even, the Formula guys were happy, and the long boards got theirs in as well. Did Lee gig any flounder? I heard he kicked some butt out there. Congratulations Bobby and Crew for another Great Fall Showdown.

Atlanta oh Atlanta. I got word that you guys had some good wind as well. Everybody loves Atlanta, it’s the perfect spot. There was reportedly a great turnout as well. Chris I’m sorry I couldn’t make the trip this year. Colin said it was a whole lot of fun and some serious racing. Tell Dan and Steve I’m looking for Elvis with dishwashing hands, or a ninety foot house boat with a hot tub on top for next year. Who won the Liesure Fleet? I’m gunning for them next year. I was really glad to see to see you guys down here at the Endless Summer. Is it true that the Fall Classic is one of the longest running annual sailboard regattas. I could certainly see why.

Don’t forget our next meeting is at seven thirty on the fourteenth of November at Beef ‘O’ Brady’s on Thomasville Road. We will be putting together a committee for a Past Commodores Hut. Give out the latest on the beach improvements. And discussing the Christmas Party particulars which by the way is less than a month away. So I’ll see you there.
