And Now For Something Completely Different...

G'day to all you windy sailors! First things first. Thanks to all those who had a part in bringing together the 10th Annual NIMBY! The event was a huge success and that was largely due to the fact that everyone had plenty of gruel. Yep, that idea to have a few drinks together took off like a drunken pirate in an old English Ale house where the liquor was free! See Jack’s article on the event.

And now for something completely different:
What barely happened at the monthly club meeting.
Dave “Denver” Denmark opened with a heartfelt welcome back to Paul. Oh no that was the last meeting. Paul didn’t turn up to this meeting….as a matter of fact many others of you found the traffic in Tallahassee too much to tangle with! Plus the weather! Who wants to go out in that heat! And then there’s the crappy meeting place that serves food and beverages FREE TO KIDS! As a matter of fact, there were only 19 people at the meeting! That sucks. Fair enough you have families and stuff to deal with, I understand. NOT! You don’t seem to have any problem coming to any of the events that are put on for you year after year by the same dedicated people that bust their asses to make your life fun! Then why not make the effort to come to a meeting every once in a while and show that you care and appreciate their efforts!!! ‘Nuff said.

And now for something completely different:
PURSER's Report:
Wright took over the books from Amy...immediately we lost money and now only have half the amount we used to carry year in and year out. We now have $2171 in the checking and, as Wright put it, “I really don’t care what we have in the other account.” Don pointed out that that was what Schilling said when discussing Enron's financial status! Wright did say that if all the towels remaining are sold then we will be able to pay for all the expenses associated with the 10th Nimby. Infact we might have made a “C” note at the end of the day!

SCRIBBLER's Report:
Tigger didn’t do anything last month. Infact he didn’t even turn up to the Club meeting! He forgot to pay Pam and Paul to put the June Newsletter out. He can see now that this Scribbler's position on the Board is gonna be a tough one, what with having to keep up with PAYING the likes of THEM!

Rick Knerr volunteered to write an article on the SCSRegatta. We’re all still looking forward to reading that Rick.

Tina had a great idea to call out to our club membership, literally on the phone, trying to get them more involved. It appears that they’ve all moved seeing as they DON’T COME TO THE MEETINGS ANY MORE! This too we look forward to!

Apparently when some people were looking for lessons they had to go to Spain to find out about them…that’s where Joan was! Did you have a good time? There’s some cornfusion as to whom is giving lessons anymore. It’s gotten to the point that JACK MAY is offering to teach! (And then give some sailing lessons!)

And now for something completely different:
We have 2 new members. William Goldsmith and Gerry Myers. Yeah, yeah, the Gerry that has always been at the events and even some meetings…he finally coughed up the dough. These two have volunteered to run the next ten regattas and beach events that the club will be putting on. Infact the club has been renamed the GOLDSMITH/MYERS SAILBOARD CLUB! They were the only ones at their last meeting and the vote passed unanimously. They’ve generated a lot of press in the Los Angeles region where the film industry is keeping an eye on their every move.

JUANAS is in doubt. However, if we can guarantee 10 sailors (Do we have 10 in the club?) to commit to going then they will put it on. The weekend after Labor Day, 8th, 9th, 10th Sept.

We gave Amy $800 for the Rum and Root Beer Regatta, Saturday August 5th. Actually, it ought to be called the SPSC reunion beach extravaganza! That way all you whining miscreants can come groveling back to the beach and join in the fun with all your family in tow! There’s gonna be a lot of really cool stuff going on, especially for the kids and the kid in you!…more to come from the organizers.

Next Club meeting is August 8th. Next Boring Board meeting is July 18th. Tigger will not be there due to the fact that he will be looking for golf balls in the sand at St George Island. As a result the Board plans to continue to pass a whole lot of super secret-squirrel amendments and bills that will burn all the money that Wright already blew!

From this point on in the Club Meeting everybody continued to ignore Denver and gradually everyone left the room.
