HHey Everybody, It’s Hurricane season again can you believe it? It seems like Dennis was just a menace, Katrina was even meaner, and Rita could’ve been neater not to mention the other half million storms that threatened the entire Atlantic and Gulf Coasts. This year I’m ready. I got me a plan ,cranked up the old Generator, bought six five gallon gas cans and me and Lizzy are finally gonna eat them canned beets and things like that if we got to. My theory, however, is that because we got our stuff together we will have scallops out on the flats this year instead of tropical weather. That is my take on it anyway.

We have had some great sea breezes earlier. I saw folks doing that wind surfing stuff down at the beach. If you didn’t get any It’s because you didn’t try hard enough. It seemed like for three weeks straight it hooked up pretty good, even on the weekends. Hopefully, there will be plenty more where that came from. Maybe we can get some for NIMBY again this year. Last year may have been a little over the top. Several of us went over to the pier and watched the sixteen foot waves crash in, and tropical storm force winds made you wipe your face off (kinda cool actually). I know that everyone has their rooms reserved and their stuff ready to go - this year’s NIMBY is going to be a hoot. Wright Finney says he can dang near guarontee it. If you don’t have the particulars or just go to the website for the articles, go back to home page and click on NIMBY. Everything you need to know is right there I’m tellin ya.

Just to let you know how diverse I am, I allowed myself to be drawn to an event known as the White Trash Bash - believe it or not. Who would’ve thunk it. Well let me tell you, I had to walk down the entire length of this party and just take it all in. But there was another side to this event aside from all the young bodies and boats from fifty plus footers down to the little twelve foot “V”bow jon boat with a 9.9 Chrysler and the Confederate battle flag on front - tat was the garbage that was left behind on the Island. Just because you are drunk doesn’t mean you should be a slob too. Pack it out, your mother probably was not there. Take some responsibility and clean up after yourself. The other was the Law Enforcement, they were there and you damned well knew it. A couple of little facts about BUIs. If you get a BUI they can’t pull your license, but if you get a DUI after that, it is a crime of enhancement. If you are found guilty you will be sentenced the same as if you had a prior DUI. If you refuse to submit to a field sobriety or breath or blood test it will result in a five hundred dollar civil fine and you will stay in Jail for the obligatory eight hours. Advice is this - think before you drink and boat.

My final thing is, it is time for us to start working on the Endless Summer Regatta. I’m going to ask only a lucky few to help with this event. You too can be winner. Speaking of which Lessons are kicking ass. There are teachers and students and in my case the teacher was also the student. I’m hoping to get down there this Sunday to wind surf with Susan and Lizzy. I’ll see you Tuesday night at the meeting.
