Brian Kerckhoff - Sailor and Inventor

This journalist happened by Shell Point just as local sailor Brian Kerckhoff came off the water, and couldn't help noticing his custom wood slalom board. As it turns out, Kerckhoff made the board himself. Built of real cedar, the board is actually hollow, and according to Kerckhoff, it weighs about the same as an epoxy board. Although the volume isn't known, Kerckhoff sails it with a 6.5 meter sail. Additionally, the fin is a Kerckhoff design, made of a carbon epoxy layup. When asked about his next invention, Kerckhoff acknowledged that he was intrigued by the idea of cold fusion, and insisted that "time will tell on that one."
