And Now For Something Completely Different...

By Tigger Gray

FROM THE DESK OF THE MONTHLY SCRIBBLER.

G'day to all you windy sailors! First things first. Thanks to all those who had a part in bringing together the 47th Annual Wind Ceremony! The event was a huge success and that was largely due to the fact that everyone had plenty of grub. Yep, that idea to have a Chili cook-off took off like a hot tamale!

But you all know that already and some of you remember who won...the "Honorable Mentions" certainly do! And, they'll be back with a vengeance next year! In fact some of the entries this year seemed to have it in for the Right Honourable, Grand Pooh-Bah Judges THIS year! That was some kind of vengeance there Priest!

Lest I digress, here's the official results which actually correspond directly to the amount of "inducement" that Janice was able to extort from the contestants:

1 Richard Hill (Having begged Chris to cook it for him!)
2 William Triechel (Having stolen some of Richard's, he should also thank Chris!)
3 Judy Kneer (She's good friends with Chris)

Honourable Mentions:
4 Andrew Priest (The Judges actually paid Chris to try his!)
5 Lizzie Denmark (She and Chris both live on the South side)
6 Kathy Voight (She likes Chris too!)

Enough of that; and now for something completely different:
Here are the minutes from the last Club Meeting:
Denver Dave Denmark opened with a heartfelt welcome back to Paul, the sampling seaman, Hansard. Paul just got back from a boat ride from Tahiti to Alaska. Paul insists that he did NOT actually have to give it up to the crew as part of the ritual celebrating his maiden voyage across the equator! He made up some lame story about wearing his clothes backwards and inside out...yeah, right Paul!!!

PURSER's Report: Wright will be taking over the books from Aimee...there's so much to say about that, but we'll just let that one go! He says that if all the shirts remaining are sold then we will be able to pay for all the expenses associated with the 63rd Wind Ceremony. Don pointed out that that was what Schilling said when discussing Enron's financial status!

Insurance for all beach activities on the beach and sailing events that we put on is $1200.00. The Smith picked up half. So Wright has already made us $600.00 richer!

SCRIBBLER's Report: Tigger finally got Pam and Paul to put the April Newsletter out. He can see now that this Scribbler's position on the Board is gonna be a tough one, what with having to keep up with the likes of THEM!

Rick Knerr volunteered to write an article on the SCS Regatta. We all look forward to reading that Rick.

Tina had a great idea to call out to our club membership, literally on the phone, trying to get them more involved...this too we look forward to!

Something was mentioned about live webcams: flotilla13.com I can't find it though...more to come next month on this!

PROMO Be sure to read up on the Southeast series in Paul's article!! PROMO

As those of us who have been to the beach lately can testify, the new pavilion is up. If you could get to the webcam you'd be able to see it live!

Next Club meeting is May 9th. Next Boring Board meeting is May 18th. Tigger will not be there due to the fact that he will be looking for golf balls in the rough in Alabama on the Robert Trent Jones Trail. As a result the Board plans to pass a whole lot of secret-squirrel amendments and bills that will burn all the money that Wright won't let us spend!

From this point on in the Club Meeting nobody listened to Denver and gradually everyone left the room.

And now for something completely different:
On to the Boring Board Meeting.
Paul and Pam are looking to secure the website host so that we will not experience the "outage" that occurred last month.

$200.00 was approved for the Southeast series. Paul is pleased.

Tigger is now a signee at the bank...New Zealand here we come! (I know that a lot of you chipped in on getting rid of me back in '98 well, this will lighten the load on you to do it again!)

One last thing: the Chili cook-off next year will be a Pasta cook off. Apparently the Italian contingent got pissed off that the Spanish marauders got all the attention!

There you have it.
