SPSC Christmas / Holiday Party Donations

Dec 6, 2013 by Markd

A few people have asked for more info about our designated charity: Tallahassees Emergency Care and Help Organization (ECHO) is our partner in collecting donations for the One Warm Coat Drive. An ECHO van will be parked out front of the Marzuq Shrine Center to collect the donations. There is a significant need for childrens coats as they outgrow them so quickly. Also needed are space heaters (in safe, working condition), gloves, hats, scarves, and blankets. From the One Warm Coat website: Jackets needed for kids and adults 1 in 5 children live in households whose earnings fall below the poverty level in the U.S. I feared that we wouldnt have a great need for adult coats. I was wrong. I realized that parents usually put their children first, thus neglecting themselves& In 2009, 31 percent of U.S. children lived in families where no parent had full-time, year-round employment. (2.9 million more than in 2008.) An estimated 671,850 Americans experience homelessness on any given night. Remember, everyone needs ONE WARM COAT!
