Memorial Day Weekend Notice of Event:

WHEN:May 27, 28, 29

WHERE: Banana River Resort, Cocoa Beach Florida

Regatta: All classes will start together. Wind minimum: 8 knts. Wind maximum 25 knts. Winds over 25 knts. at the start of the race will result in a change of format to slalom if desired. The racing will be Saturday and Sunday. If the racers want, a course will be set for Monday. All racing will conclude by 2:00 pm Monday. Since this will be in sea breeze season, racing may not start until after 3:00. If a decent pressure gradient wind is in place, racing will start at 11:00. Skippers meeting will be 45 minutes before the start. The course will be set as close to the BRR as is physically possible. Cost $25/ weekend. $15/day. 18 and under free.

Learn to Windsurf: An introduction and on the water clinic for newbies will be offered Sunday. 10:00 am start. 2 hours. Cost $20. Minimum for a clinic: 4 and maximum 8. Instructors: Beth Winkler & Sean Sullivan.

Learn to Freestyle Clinic: Format will be spinning tricks and the basics if light wind. Instructor’s choice if windy. Saturday. Minimum for a clinic: 3 and maximum 6. Cost $25. Instructor: Eddy Patricelli. Time to be announced.

Demo: Try the new Neil Pryde Olympic RSX gear. Demos only to qualified experienced windsurfers. Donation of $10 for a 20 minute ride.

Party Fundraiser: Saturday: We will fire up the grill and start cooking at 6:30. Hamburgers(Beef, turkey, Tofu) with sides and a drink. Cost: $20 over 21; $10 under 21; children under 12 free. We are hoping for some live local music.

Banana River Resort will make available all rooms and camping at a discounted rate. 75% of all receipts will go towards the fundraising.

Pricing has been set as low as possible to encourage everyone’s participation, cover cost and ensure some money will be raised to help Nancy Rios and Jimmy Sobek. Maybe after the event is over you will feel inspired to give a little more to help these two get started down the Olympic trail.
