Racing
- The Race Director is Atilla the Hun (Mr. Hun to the racers).
- Races will be conducted according to the 2005-2008 Racing Rules of Sailing, the written racing instructions, verbal instructions issued at the official Skipper’s Meeting, and any information posted on the official race notice board.
- The Race Director will be the sole judge of fair racing conditions. It is the Race Director’s intention that no racing will be held in which pumping is the only means of propulsion. Wind minimum for the Formula Fleet will be 8 knots, as measured by the Director, and will be strictly enforced.
- Each sailor bears the sole responsibility for deciding whether or not to start or to continue a race.
- To be eligible for racing, all sails must have sail numbers on both the port and starboard sides of the sail. Each sailor’s numbers must be registered at check-in, and any changes must be reported to the Race Director prior to the start of any race in which the sailor desires to be scores. Unregistered or unmarked sails will not be scored.
- Based on the wind conditions, racing will likely include long distance and course. However, slalom courses may be set in the event of unusually high wind conditions.
- The low-point scoring system will be used for all races.
- Possible race classes include: Longboard, Formula, Hybrid, Sport, and Novice. Classes may be added or eliminated at the discretion of the Race Committee.
- A long distance race may be held, which will be scheduled during optimal conditions. Participants will be required to leave an ID with the beach committee before the start.
- A freestyle competition with separate awards may be held on Sunday afternoon. Alternatively, a speed contest may be held, which will be judged using a radar gun to determine top speed.
Awards
- Trophies will be awarded to the top 3 finishers of each class.
- Product prizes or trophies will be awarded to the winners of the freestyle competition or speed contest.
